I saw this blog post on a TikTok video the other day. (Yeah apparently people write about TikTok videos.)
If you don’t feel like reading/watching it, it’s a girl that works at Starbucks. Her store had to close because of a plumbing issue.
They were telling people that the store was closed as they came through the drive-through.
She talks about how people were complaining about them being closed. And how they were upset about the closure. She was getting annoyed explaining what happened to everyone.
So she had a brilliant idea to sound like an automated message and decided to say the same phrase every time a new car drove up.
Turns out it worked. People stopped complaining and asking questions. They just kept on driving.
The same is true for email marketing.
People connect with people.
They won’t care if your emails look like automated messages that get sent to everyone. They’ll scroll right on past.
So just be a human. Make your emails personable and real.
Act like you are having a conversation. Not like some proper English teacher AI robot spitting out a bunch of corporate mayonnaise.
If you want customers to ignore you, then you should sound like a robot.
If you want to build a relationship with your customers, then act like a human being.
Hope that’s useful for ya
